Artist Spotlight - Captain Hooks

Daniel Santana Brown, or Captain Hooks, made his appearance on September 22nd 1984, in the maternity ward of a Jamaican hospital, moved to Toronto at the age of eight. The eldest of five children, he felt the need to lead by example, and continues to do so even today as he crafts and hones his music. As a talented songwriter, composer, and lyricist, Brown is a triple threat, many who have worked with him or had the chance to observe him say that he’s musically gifted with has the ability to write any genre of music. Brown’s impressive resume includes penning songs for numerous artists and theme songs for multiply sports teams.

Hooks has worked with and performed with artists such as Juelz Santana, Lloyd Banks, Snow, Baby Sham, Ludacris, and Mya. Hooks is not just another rapper – he writes lyrics that transcend genres of music, and as his alias suggests, has mastered the art of hook writing. It’s these talents that separate Hooks from the rest proving he is multi-dimensional in his craft and exuberating the true essence of an artist.
